Equine Veterinary Service's Wellness Program

maximizing your horse's health and your budget.

Preventive medicine is an important aspect to your horse's health. With our wellness program, your horse’s basic healthcare will be well-covered. An important aspect of our plan is that your horse will be examined by one of our veterinarians twice a year. This allows our veterinarians to be on the farm to get to know you and your horse. Twice a year examinations help us identify medical issues early and discuss preventive medicine topics such as parasite control, dental care, hoof care and nutrition. Each examination also takes into account seasonal influences for improving the well-being of your horse.

Our wellness program maximizes your horse's health and your veterinary health care budget, with significant savings off our regular prices. An additional incentive is that the discounts are based upon our 2011 pricing for the 2012 enrollment period. We expect price increases from our suppliers, so this is another great way to lock in big savings for your routine care. Please contact the office for details.

NOTE: Due to the variability of farm call locations, fees and circumstances, the price of the plan below does not include the Farm Call Fee; however, at enrollment, your specific farm call fee will be calculated, discounted, and included as part of your personalized program. You will receive two discounted farm calls per year as part of the program.

Our wellness plan includes:

  • 2 Discounted Farm Calls (one spring/summer & one fall/winter; prepaid at time of enrollment)
  • Routine Physical Examination. An assessment of overall body condition and health. Exam includes eyes (ophthalmic), teeth (dental), heart, lungs and abdomen, hooves and skin.
  • Core Vaccinations
    • Spring-Rabies, Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis + Tetanus, West Nile and Influenza/Rhinopneumonitis
    • Fall-Influenza/Rhinopneumonitis
  • Coggins test (once annually)
  • 2 Fecal Egg Counts (one spring & one fall)
  • Sheath/udder cleaning (while sedated for dentistry)

PROGRAM PRICE PER HORSE:  $305.25 + 2 Significantly Discounted Farm Calls per year (prepaid at time of enrollment)
Enrollment deadline is February 29th, 2012.

The following routine services can be added to the program at a discount:

    • *Discounted dental services w/sedation. Wellness plan members receive $60.00 off dental services (*Once per year from June through February)
    • 10% off Additional vaccinations, such as Strangles and/or Potomac Horse Fever
    • **20 % off Routine laboratory screening: CBC/Chemistry panel; Thyroid Panel; Vitamin E & Selenium levels; ACTH/Insulin levels; Lyme titers (**Once per year, single appointment, applied to unlimited tests; excludes fecal egg count).
